Wings of Hope Dinner Dance

Wings of Hope was founded by breast cancer survivor Anna Rossetti-Bortoluzzi to help patients who are fighting breast cancer today. Anna and the Wings of Hope Committee hosted the annual dinner dance to support the work of St. Michael's CIBC Breast Centre on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011.
We're thankful to Anna and the Committee for their amazing contribution, and extend our thanks to all of the people who came out to the Wings of Hope Dinner and Dance this year to support St. Michael's.

Fight for Sight Black & White Gala

Guests at the "Fight for Sight" Black & White Gala on Friday September 30th, 2011 experienced an evening of art, live music and fabulous food and drink organized by Nancy and Mauro Manias.
The evening benefit raised funds for the Opthalmology department at St. Michael's Hospital and honoured David Wong, MD for restoring Mauro's sight.

In the afternoon of September 22, 2011, the Foundation hosted our annual Leadership Society Luncheon. This event is an opportunity to thank and celebrate our loyal Leadership donors who have contributed $1,000 or more last year.
Guests were welcomed by Hospital President Dr. Bob Howard and Foundation President Alayne Metrick and were treated to a presentation by Drs. Neeru Gupta and Yeni Yucel of St. Michael's Opthalmology team. The doctors shared exciting research discoveries and the work they're doing to develop treatments for glaucoma, which affects more than 67 million people worldwide.

On September 14, 2011, Juno Award-winning singer-songwriters Jim Cuddy and Melanie Doane played an intimate benefit concert to support the Chair in Voice Disorders at St. Michael’s Hospital.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Voice Disorders Committee and fans who purchased tickets, the concert raised $125,000 for the Chair in Voice Disorders. It was a spectacular night, with Ron Tite as MC, exquisite food by Chef Donna Dooher and intimate performances by Jim Cuddy and Melanie Doane.

On September 8, 2011, St. Michael's Young Leaders hosted The Dodger at SteamWhistle Brewery. In this charity dodgeball tournament, 18 teams of 10 players competed in costume surrounded by a cheering crowd of spectators, with DJ Hussey providing the soundtrack through the competition, presentation of prizes and into the after party.

The Station Creek Golf Club course was fabulous, and the staff attentive and professional. After a great day of highly-competitive golf we all had a great dinner, with MC Dean Blundell moving things along with his trademark wit. And Dr. Katherine Rouleau really brought home just why we were all there, raising funds to help some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

To celebrate the completion of a close friend's chemotherapy treatment, Martyn Nixon hosted "Chemo-Free Friday."
The event at the Winchester Kitchen & Bar, 51A Winchester Street, on March 25, 2011 raised over $1,000 in donations to St. Michael's Hospital.

Ryerson “Think Pink” Event Raises $2,500 |
|

Prior to the Ryerson women’s basketball team game on February 11, members of the St. Michael’s Foundation were invited to accept a cheque from Ryerson Athletics for $2,500. Moved by the knowledge that a member of the Ryerson sports family had been diagnosed with cancer and was being treated at St. Michael’s, the Ryerson Athletics Department has been collecting donations at all women's soccer, volleyball and basketball home games. The collection drive culminated at the Think Pink women's home basketball game on February 11 with the Ryerson Rams playing the Ottawa Gee Gees (the Rams won, 65 – 57!). Team members and fans wore Think Pink T-shirts to support the fight against breast cancer, with the gift being put towards cancer care and research at St. Michael’s Hospital. Thank you Ryerson!
