Terry's story

Terry Donnelly is a familiar face in the Engineering department at St. Michael’s. Every painter, every electrician, every carpenter gives him a warm hello. A handshake. A pat on the back. A hug.

Terry is a long-time supporter of St. Michael’s. He is interested in helping to create and renovate facilities with the patient in mind—from the warm and inviting Terrence Donnelly Heart Centre, to the Day.

Surgery Centre, to other rooms around the Hospital that all have his special touch. His most recent project was renovating and furnishing a conference room for Medical Imaging to honour the 43-year career at St. Michael’s of Dr. Ron McCallum.

“St. Michael’s has the best doctors, the best staff, and leading technology. You need the facilities to match—patients and their loved ones shouldn’t sit on rickety chairs or be in a room where the paint is chipped or curtains ripped,” says Terry. “The appearance of our facilities instills confidence and we want people to feel comfortable during a difficult time.”

That’s where our Engineering department comes in. And that’s why Terry spends so much time with the team going over projects. “Guys like our carpenters Mike, Jason and Tony, are the glue that keeps this Hospital running,” he says.

“The fingerprints of our Engineering staff are all over the success of St. Michael’s as a world-class hospital.”

Hospital Fact: In 2010, St. Michael’s has 5,241 employees and 649 medical staff.
