The Foundation wishes to extend special thanks to our Volunteer Association who have committed to supporting St. Michael’s Hospital Volunteer Association Chair in Nursing Research.
In 2011, the Hospital identified a Term Chair in Nursing Research as a top priority. The St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation Angel Ball Gala raised half of the $1 million needed to fund the Chair.
The Volunteer Association agreed that there is a vital need for this Research Chair and they pledged a gift of $500,000 towards the cause. Their pledge completed funding for a Chair to study nursing practices and ways to improve patient outcomes.
In the past their gifts have supported the Volunteer Association Maternal and Children’s Health and Human Development Laboratory, the Volunteer Association Helipad and the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System to name just a few.
This Research Chair will investigate improvements to current best practices that can have a real and immediate impact for our patients and the care they receive.
Our Volunteers support the Chair primarily through proceeds from the Marion Palmer Gift Shop in the Victoria Lobby. Stop by the gift shop to pick up a snack or a gift for a loved one - and say thank you to our volunteers!
