Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower set to open this fall
Although St. Michael’s Hospital has always been recognized for its leading-edge compassionate care, we have been challenged in recent years by aging facilities. Our cramped spaces — many dating back nearly 100 years — weren’t designed to accommodate new technologies and equipment.
It’s why we embarked on an ambitious redevelopment project, known as Inspire 2018 to transform patient care.
Today, thanks to the exceptional support of so many donors like you, our vision of inspired patient care supported by world-leading research and education is being realized brick by brick, patient by patient, student by student.
One of the places where your support is most evident is the new, 17-storey Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower, set to open in fall 2018. The frame of the patient care tower is now complete, and work is progressing rapidly on fitting out the building’s interior with:
- A new, welcoming entrance with a clearly marked front door
- A glass-clad, light-filled, spacious three-storey lobby to welcome patients, family and staff
- Easier wayfinding
- Enlarged inpatient facilities
- Expanded intensive care units
- State-of-the-art operating rooms
- Private inpatient rooms
With visionary donor support from you and many other friends of St. Michael’s Hospital, the Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower is one of several transformative capital projects that will help make this the premier critical care hospital in Canada.
Thanks for being such an important part of our future. We couldn’t do it without you!
