Door-to-Door and Street Fundraising

Our Door-to-Door and Street Fundraising program is a vital part of the Foundation’s efforts to support St. Michael's Hospital. Through this program, we will be in communities across Toronto, to raise much needed awareness and find new supporters to join the St. Michael's Caring Angels Monthly Giving Program. Caring Angels support the areas of greatest need at St. Michael's, making it possible for us to provide the best possible care for patients.

St. Michael's Foundation has partnered with two vendors, Global Faces Direct and Up Fundraising, to support this work. Each canvasser receives comprehensive training about the mission and work of St. Michael's so that they can speak to you on our behalf, in compliance with all applicable laws. These canvassers are not on commission. They receive an hourly wage for the time they spend fundraising on behalf of St. Michael's. We take great pride in ensuring that all of our fundraisers are professional, courteous and knowledgeable about St. Michael’s and our mission.

Q: How do I know a fundraiser is legitimate?

A: Fundraisers for St. Michael's will have:

  • Identification badges and branded attire
  • Brochures with the St. Michael’s Foundation logo, phone number and website address, along with our charitable registration number


Q: Why fundraise door-to-door and on the street?

A: Door-to-door and street fundraising is one of the most effective and personal ways we can reach out to donors. 
 

Q: Are St. Michael’s canvassers volunteers?

A: St. Michael’s canvassers are compensated with an hourly wage and do not receive commissions. Fundraisers are paid through their respective companies, Global Faces Direct or Up Fundraising. St. Michael’s Foundation adheres to Imagine Canada’s Standards Program for charitable and nonprofit organizations. Q: Why can’t I make a cash donation?

A: For safety reasons, we do not allow our canvassers to accept or carry cash donations. If you are interested in making a donation, please do so using our online donation form or contact the Foundation at 416.864.5000.
 

Q: How do I know my donation is going to St. Michael’s?

A: Thank you for supporting St. Michael's Foundation! Once you have signed up as a monthly donor through our door-to-door or street canvassing campaign, you will receive an email confirmation. If you made a donation with your credit card, your first donation will be processed immediately; if you have donated through direct debit, your first donation will be processed within 5 business days. As a new monthly donor, you'll then receive a formal welcome to our Caring Angels Monthly Giving Program within 30 days. If you have not received a formal acknowledgement within 30 days, please contact us at 416.864.5000.

Q: What if I want to change or cancel my monthly donation to St. Michael’s?

A: You may change or cancel your donation at any time. Should you wish to cancel or change the amount of your gift, please contact us at 416.864.5000 or send us a message through our Contact Us page.
